ZISOU brand, founded by Magda Owczarek, was created on an impulse – although not by accident.“For several years, I co-founded ( with my husband Rafał) an antique renovation studio at the Old Market Square in Poznań, Poland. Every evening, when I closed the door, I wished I could take the warmth and smell of wood with me.The idea came to me when I watched the movie “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou”.You’re probably wondering what the movie has to do with the wooden bag?
Remind yourself – when you leave the cinema with the impression – that something extraordinary has just happened. I wanted to stop and materialize this moment.The idea was for the bag to be not only aesthetic, but also durable and functional.
I wanted it to accompany me every day. This was achieved thanks to the highest quality materials and many years of experience in working with wood.”
The collection of wooden handbags quickly became so popular that the story, that was supposed to be just a short adventure, suddenly became the beginning of a completely new chapter. In 2019, when British Vogue spotted the brand and orders started arriving from all over the world, we decided to close our antiques renovation studio and focus on our new path. The brand has exhibited at trade fairs such as CIFF Copenhagen, Dubai Fashion Week, Pure London and many others.
Products created in our studio are made of careful selected materials. Starting from wood, colouring oils and waxes to accessories such as fittings and packaging elements. Details are our obsession. They are what make our collection unique.
